Cat Litter for Smaller Pores: Cat Litter Facial Mask

Cat litter face masks. You would never think that mixing cat litter with a bit of water can make for a mask that will banish large pores. But it does work - and its even a weekly part of my skincare regimen. If you are interested in using cat litter for smaller pores, make sure that you purchase the unscented cat litter. Cat litter contains over 70 trace elements, but the active ingredient that will shrink your pores is bentonite clay.

Benefits of Bentonite Clay in Face Masks

  • Bentonite clay - or aluminum phyllosilicate - is a natural clay derived from volcanic ash. Bentonite clay has unique abilities that allow it to purify the skin. When mixed with water, bentonite clay holds an electric charge, making it very effective at cleaning deep within the pores. The granules in the clay also offer a mild exfoliating treatment.

  • Eating Bentonite Clay - When consumed, bentonite clay has an alkalizing effect in the body, helping to balance gut bacteria.
  • Bentonite clay for Constipation - In alternative medicine, bentonite clay is believed to help alleviate gastrointestinal problems

Applying a paste of bentonite on a wound will jumpstart the healing process.

How To Use DIY Cat Litter Face Mask

Do not use metal with the cat litter face mask. The bentonite will react with the metal, and decrease the effectiveness of the face mask. The cat litter face mask is suitable for most skin types, but people who suffer from psoriasis will find that the mask is especially soothing and beneficial in reducing lesions.

  1.  Pour the clay into a bowl. Pour enough warm water to create a paste.
  2. Microwave the mixture for 15 seconds. This will warm up the product and make it even more effective. Mix with a plastic spoon.
  3. Go to the bathroom and apply the face mask. Massage the product into the skin, making sure to avoid the delicate eye area. Allow the face mask to dry. You might feel a slight tightening of the skin. That's the bentonite working on your skin!
  4. Splash some warm water onto your face. Use a small amount of facial cleanser to remove the clay. Use small circular motions to remove the clay.
