Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Review

Okay I'm going to come out with it: Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse is one of my favorite foundations. Forget favorite drugstore or designer makeup. This is one of my favorite foundations - PERIOD. Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse is one of the only foundations that I have bought multiple time – about three times already, consecutively. I have oily skin, but this cream-based foundation leaves my skin matte with a flattering, velvety texture. If you're wondering, I am in the color 2.5 Medium Natural Beige.

The Maybelline Dream Mousse line consists of the Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse and the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. The Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse caters to drier skin types, with only 6 available shades. The Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse comes in 16 shades and is catered to
skin like mine – oily and just plain dysfunctional. The Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse and the Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse are both fragrance-free, allergy tested, and Non-comedogenic. This makes the foundation ideal for the most sensitive of skin types.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse: Coverage and Application

I like to apply my Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse with my foundation brush. I use Sephora Platinum Airbrush Foundation Brush #55. This makeup brush is soft, applies product beautifully, and is tapered to allow the user to get into nooks and crannies (If you are worried about your sensitive under eye area, then the Sephora Platinum Airbrush Foundation Brush #55 is perfect for you, as well.)

I find that when you are almost finished with the product, the cream tends to ball up. This makes it difficult to pick up, especially if you're using fingers to apply the makeup. My foundation brush still rubs on these little balled up pieces of makeup, but I would like for the texture to say consistent. It's pretty unsightly.

The coverage is very light but very buildable. Typically, I apply one layer on my face, making sure to focus a bit on the sides of my nose and on my under eye circles. Since it is a very light coverage, I don't think that it does a really great job at covering heavy circles or unsightly marks. I use a salmon based concealer to counteract the darkness in my under eye circles, so I'm not worried about my foundation covering that. What it does is blend the concealer into my skin and make my concealer and foundation look like one seamless canvas.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse: Final Verdict
A-

Pros: Will I be purchasing this product? Yes! Well...actually, I may not because I am interested in trying different foundations (like Makeup Forever HD Foundation). There are so many different products out there that I simply don't want to get too comfortable. But I know that the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse is a safe bet for me.

Cons: The balling up of the product. I don't know what causes this. It looks very...gross. I will give Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse a grade of A-. What are your thoughts on Maybelline's Dream Mousse line of products?
